All images shown on this website are available as fine art prints for display in your home or office.
Each print begins with a digital file that is obtained by scanning an original 35mm slide or by direct capture with a digital camera. Minor adjustments are made to the digital image so that it faithfully represents the scene perceived by the photographer at the instant the camera shutter was released. Usually, minor operations to correct color casts, brightness, and contrast are all that is required. Corrections of this nature have always been employed in traditional (chemical) darkrooms since the earliest days of fine art photographic printmaking.
Prints which are sized at 12" x 18" or smaller are printed on a Hewlett-Packard professional inkjet printer on satin matte paper stock which has been optimized by HP to match their printers. This combination of printer and paper produces prints with exceptional color accuracy, vibrancy, and detail.
Prints sizes larger than 12" x 18" are printed on either a Lightjet 5000 or a wide-format Epson inkjet printer. Both printers produce prints of the highest caliber, but each has an edge in replicating extremely saturated tones in a particular region of the color spectrum. Each particular image is printed on the printer that enhances its characteristic to the greatest effect.
The LightJet 5000 exposes light sensitive Fuji Crystal Archive photo paper with a set of multicolored lasers at over 4000 lines per inch in a 36-bit (68 billion colors!) colorspace. The photographic paper is then processed with a traditional wet chemistry process to finalize the print. The Epson inkjet printer uses a set of eight individual pigment-based ink sources in conjunction with specially formulated papers to produce prints of astounding quality and richness.
Prints from the Lightjet are rated to last over 60 years without fading, and the HP and Epson injet printers have been certified with color permanence ratings of over 200 years.
A limited number of prints are produced of each image released by Michael Pollack. Once the specified number of prints are sold, that particular image will be designated "out of print" and will no longer be available. Each print is hand-signed and hand-numbered, making your photograph a truly unique piece of art.
Each print is available in a range of sizes. Please inquire about specific sizes for any particular image of interest. Note that the pricing below includes a white, museum-quality, double mat with the print. Please e-mail for more information.
